MFTIYour body is present, is your mind?
Mindfulness is the miracle by which we master and restore ourselves. Consider, for example: a magician who cuts his body into many parts and places each part in a different region—hands in the south, arms in the east, legs in the north, and then by some miraculous power lets forth a cry which reassembles whole every part of his body. Mindfulness is like that—it is the miracle which can call back in a flash our dispersed mind and restore it to wholeness so that we can live each minute of life.

The term “mindfulness” has encompassed old and modern definitions that refers to a psychological state of awareness, a practice that promotes this awareness, a mode of processing information, and a characterological trait (Brown et al). Mindfulness can be defined as a moment to moment nonjudgmental awareness or as “a state of psychological freedom that occurs when attention remains quiet and limber, without attachment to any particular point of view” (Martin, 1997).
In this session, you will learn the basics of mindfulness and how it can provide a transformational impact on all of our lives. Topics covered will include an introduction to the basics of mindfulness meditation practice as well as how self-awareness can help you build a self-care regimen. This in turn, can help you connect deeply with others, build empathy, and strengthen the ability to deal with anxiety, anger or depression difficult emotions when they arise, such as anxiety, anger, or depression. This class is offered as a “taster” course, so that you can discover—and possibly continue to explore—other and deeper mindfulness courses that drbeen is planning to offer in the near future.
