I'm 68 and just recovered from shingles. My doctor told me I should plan for the Shingrix shot in a year, and I asked why as having just recovered I thought I should now have some measure of natural immunity. He said natural immunity only lasts 1 year but the vaccine lasts for 10. How is that possible that any external derived immunity could last longer than natural immunity?

That's what's frustating. My PCP says yes, my oncologist no, so I've gone with my oncologists recommendation at this point. I am 72. Thank you for such a quick response.
