In this lecture we will continue our discussion for Aspirin. We have already discussed the mechanism of actions of Aspirin. Today we will discuss the therapeutic indications for aspiring and review various studies that demonstrate evidence for this usage. Following topics will be discussed:

Aspirin for primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease (CVD)

Aspirin and NSAIDs for inflammation, pain, and fever.

Systemic mastocytosis.

Niacin tolerability.

Aspirin and colorectal cancer.

Objectives:

Discuss the major therapeutic uses of aspirin, including its analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, and antiplatelet effects.

Identify and explain the potential adverse effects of aspirin, including gastrointestinal complications and Reye's syndrome.
