Ashwagandha is a herb used in Indian medicine (Ayurvedic medicine) for nearly 3000 years. It is found in India, Middle East, and Africa. It is reported to have anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, anti-diabetic, anti-hypertensive, neuroprotective, adaptogenic, and reproductive and hormone-modulating effects. Let's review the anti-inflammatory aspects of this herb. We will discuss NF-kB pathway modulation.

Thank you - a very enjoyable way to learn (especially compared to the way it's taught in med school). Question: If ashwagandha turns down the pathways that are designed to respond to pathogens, is it possible they make us LESS effective at fighting infections such as Covid? (Should we *in theory* advise patients with acute infection to stop taking ashwagandha until the acute phase is over ?)

I am not sure how to edit my previous comment - I would like to add that I am also interested in Turmeric which is reported to be very effective for arthritic conditions.
