This session introduces the pharmacological basis of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, building upon the physiological foundation of the renin–angiotensin–aldosterone system (RAAS). We will examine their mechanism of action, general pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic properties, and their broad therapeutic applications in cardiovascular and renal medicine. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the rationale for ACE inhibitor use in various clinical settings, rather than on memorizing individual drug profiles.
