Mycobacterium Avium Complex (UW - 2268)

Immunocompromised patient (low CD4 count). Unexplained systemic symptoms.

  • Fever
  • A cough
  • Abdominal symptoms
  • Splenomegaly
  • Elevated alkaline phosphatase (ALT)

Treat with Azithromycin, Clarithromycin

UW - QID 3917

This pathogen causes high-grade fever as compared to other TB pathogens that cause a low-grade fever.

D/D is Mycobacterium Tuberculosis and Cytomegalovirus
