Candida Auris was discovered in 2009 in the ear of a Japanese woman. Since then, it has spread to many countries including the US. In the US C. Auris used to be mostly in the New York City and Chicago area. However, now it has spread to more than 35 states. It can cause fungemia, meningitis, wound infections, and other organ infections. This fungus is resistant to bleach and alcohol-like disinfectants, and 70% of its isolates are also resistant to antifungals. Let's discuss.
